One Man’s Treasure
Nick began his love of antique/vintage items in California — first in San Francisco, then Los Angeles. It was in LA where he learned the art of being a shop owner. At the epic Antique Guild in the former Helms Bakery in West L.A., he shared a booth with two cohorts. While the market was being filled with Arts & Crafts and the MCM movement was burgeoning, he stayed with traditional styles and focused primarily on sterling silver. Most of the finds were American Silver, and more classic in the classic taste. Across all periods and styles, however, he filled a niche market and made many happy customers. From there, he went on to collect, curate and sell in Westchester County, NY, Louisville, KY, Columbus, OH and Seattle, WA.
His knowledge of silver has also greatly expanded. While he still has a fondness for sterling trophies and barware, he has a particular interest in all kinds of 18th Century silver — from such makers as Hester Bateman (and family), Paul Storr and Abraham Portal, among others. But fine American silversmiths also command his attention, including rare pieces from Shiebler, Tiffany, Gorham and Gorham’s Martelé bespoke line. Nick also enjoys curating eclectic finds from the French flea markets — any one-of-a-kind vintage or antique treasures are fair game.
If you are looking for a specific type of silver, please ask. He has quite an inventory housed offsite and would be more than happy to help you find that “one piece.”
In addition to what you see at Peachtree Battle Antiques & Interiors, you can find additional items in his Rubylane shop – One Mans Treasure – and soon on his own dedicated site One-Mans-Treasure.com.
